March is Red Cross Month and the celebration kicks off on the Santa Monica Pier with a special Ferris wheel light show that features the symbol of the Red Cross and red and white designs.
The Red Cross Los Angeles Region celebrates its volunteer heroes during the month of March and encourages everyone to learn more about the American Red Cross by becoming a volunteer, giving blood, learning skills that can help save lives during a disaster, and donating to Red Cross. There are currently over 6,720 volunteers in the LA area.
Guests that stop by Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier on the afternoon of Monday, March 2nd can learn more about the Red Cross at their pop-up tent in the Pacific Park food court. Keep an eye out for the Red Cross staff wearing red shirts. They will be set up on the Pier from 3-7PM, informing guests about the organization, handing out prizes, and offering photo ops with the Ferris wheel.
Additional buildings around LA will be lit up later in the month for Red Cross Month, including the Beverly Hills City Hall from March 4th-6th and the LAX Pylons on March 25th.
The Santa Monica Bay Chapter of the Red Cross has been a part of the community for over 100 years and is currently made up of over 1,400 volunteers. Pacific Park is a proud supporter of the American Red Cross and excited to shine a light on their efforts in Santa Monica and beyond.
The Pacific Wheel goes red at dusk and will feature a short program of red and white lights, as well as the Red Cross icon. If you can’t make it out to the Pier for this event, you can watch the light program on the Pacific Wheel on the Pacific Park live cams at www.dev.pacpark.enki.tech/live.
