Community police departments across the country typically celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August every year. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. This year, the Santa Monica Police Department has moved their National Night Out to multiple locations on Tuesday, October 5th.
SMPD will host National Night Out at 10 different locations in the Santa Monica community this year, “block party” style from 3-5PM. Guests that attend this year have the opportunity to get to know their neighbors and local police officers in a small, safe environment.
SMPD will be supporting and empowering the individual neighborhoods and groups in the community by interacting with groups and handing out free ice cream from their vehicles, as well as supplying a “party in a bin” for participating neighborhoods which include items to create an obstacle course, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, glow sticks, and more.
This is a free community event hosted by the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Police Department.
