Texas Christian University Heads to Santa Monica Ahead of the College Football Playoff National Championship

On January 8th, TCU will hold a pep rally on the Santa Monica Pier in advance of the National Championship game at SoFi Stadium on January 9th.

Los Angeles is the proud home of the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship (CFP) at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. The Entertainment Capital of the World boasts a rich history of delivering unforgettable events that leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Less than a year after hosting Super Bowl LVI, Los Angeles welcomes another top-tier sporting event, delivering a world-class experience for fans and visitors. Fans watching the 2023 CFP National Championship will see Fiesta Bowl champion Texas Christian University (TCU) face off against Peach Bowl champions University of Georgia. The 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be aired on ESPN at 4:30 PM in Los Angeles.

Prior to the game, the TCU Horned Frogs fans will hop on down to the Santa Monica Pier for a pep rally and fan fest at 4 PM. Over 3,000 fans are expected to attend the event that will feature performances from the Horned Frogs Marching Band and Cheerleading Squad. TCU fans will enjoy all the pier has to offer from rides and bites to watching the remarkable sunset from over the waves of the Pacific.

TCU led from start to finish in a thrilling 51-45 win over Michigan in the College Football Playoff at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ. TCU became the first Big 12 member to win a CFP contest and set a program record for points scored in a bowl game. Leading 51-45 with 52 seconds to play and Michigan beginning a series at its own 25, TCU held the Wolverines without a first down to secure the victory. Emari Demercado rushed for a career-high 150 yards, including a career long 69-yard carry to set up a 1-yard Duggan scoring run to give TCU its biggest lead of the game at 41-22 with 49 seconds left in the third quarter. Quentin Johnston earned Offensive Most Valuable Player honors after totaling six catches for 163 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown. It came just three plays after the Wolverines had trimmed TCU’s 19-point advantage to just 41-38. The Horned Frogs totaled 488 yards of offense against a Michigan defense that entered the game allowing just 13.4 points and 277.1 yards per game.

The New Yearโ€™s holiday period belongs to college football, with two Playoff Semifinal games rotating annually among the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl Game and Sugar Bowl. he two teams that win the Playoff Semifinals compete for the College Football Playoff National Championship. The national championship game is in a different city each year, always on a Monday night.
